The World According to Me

January February March April May June

Tuesday May 31, 2005 Well it is back to work for Mom and Dad. I think they get tired of going to work, but it pays the bills, feeds me, and keeps a roof over my head!!! It is back to the same routine for me. I am really in to a great routine these days. I take my two naps and am awake and happy the rest of the time. Mom stopped nursing me this weekend, so I am adjusting to that. I have been struggling with the whole pooping thing, but Mom figures it will work itself out!

Monday May 30, 2005

Well I slept most of the day today. I took three 2 hour naps. Mom and Dad think that I was just worn out from the very busy weekend. Mom and Dad worked on putting in new water spigots in the kennel, back yard and by the chicken coop. Dad put them 36” underground so that the lines will not freeze this winter. It was a lot of hard work for both of them!

Mom put me in my jumperoo for the first time today. It was really fun and I like it a lot. It is so much fun having so many different toys to play with, but I am not spoiled, no really, I am not! I’m Not, I’m Not, I’m Not! He He He

Sunday May 29, 2005

Today was the Emerson family reunion. The Emerson’s are my paternal great grandma’s former husband’s family, did you follow that? Mom grew up knowing them as family and as far as she, Gramma, and Grandpa are concerned, they ARE family and always will be. I got to see my cousin Stella who is just two weeks younger than me. She has beautiful long black hair and very pretty earrings. She looks so grown up! I got to see a lot of my family and had such a wonderful time. Mom took Tater and she did very well. It was a very fun day at the park. It was really hot out so I got to be naked a lot, and I LOVE that! I was really tired when we got home and went to bed early.

Saturday May 28, 2005

We headed up to Spokane this morning for the dog show. It was hot out but at least the building where the dogs showed was air conditioned. I spent the morning in the snuglie with Dad. Mom showed her two dogs and Diego. Cosby finished his championship, so mom was REALLY happy and very proud of him. She stayed for a while to help her friend Mike with his dogs and Gramma took me back to the car for a bottle and nap. We got home about mid day and then got a few things done around the house. Grandpa arrived around 4 and then we went out to dinner with David, Kayce and Grayland at La Casa Lopez.

Friday May 27, 2005

Our little baby chicks started hatching today. We are not sure how many there will be, but Dad and Mom are excited. Gramma arrived last this evening. Mom has a dog show tomorrow and Gramma and Daddy offered to come and help hold dogs. Mom is only taking Cosby and Tater, but Paula is taking three dogs and needs help with hers. I am happy to see my Gramma again. It is really nice that they do not live very far away so we can see them frequently.

Thursday May 26, 2005

Mom braved the rapids today and trimmed all of the dog’s nails. She normally gets help from Dad, but decided to do it while I was napping. I was surpised that the dogs didn’t even wake me up. Normally Maizey howls the entire time!!! I took another long nap at Vicki’s today. Well, I took a short nap, then woke up for my bottle and went back to sleep. I am getting really good at this whole sleeping thing!

Wednesday May 25, 2005

I must be growing…I took a long nap this morning. After two hours, Mom finally had to wake me up to eat so we could get ready to leave. Then at Vicki’s I took another really long nap, about 3 hours. Pretty impressive! Mom wishes that she could sleep that much!

Tuesday May 24, 2005

Well it is back to the same old thing! I am really glad that it worked out for Mom to be home with me in the mornings. We have a good time and have a great routine worked out. She gets up around 6 to take care of the dogs and then gets me up at about 6:30 to eat and then on Monday, Wednesday and Friday she gives me a bath. At 8:30 or 9, she puts me in my crib for a morning nap. I usually sleep for around 1 and a half to 2 hours. Mom wishes she had my life!

Monday May 23, 2005

TODAY was a MILESTONE! I rolled over from my belly to my back today! Mom was so excited! She called Dad right away to tell him. He was very proud and proceeded to say how “advanced” I am! My parents love me so much!

I also had a doctor’s appointment and my weight is now 11lbs 11oz. Dr. Ting was really happy with how much I am progressing. He said that it looked like I was taking up nutrients, etc. just fine, that there probably just wasn’t enough fat in the breast milk. Mom must have been hogging all the fat! Figures!

After my doctor’s appointment, Mom had time to run a couple of errands. On her way to the store, she drove the wrong way on a one way! OH MY GOSH! She even honked at the other people because she thought THEY were going the wrong way! She has lived here for 8 years, EIGHT YEARS and never done that before! She wasn't even on the phone! Sheez! Then Moscow PD called because someone turned her in! She had to play the dumb new mom card again! Hope that one holds out for a while! The funniest part about all of it, is that Mosocw PD called Daddy over in Washington to taddle on her!

Dad got home late this afternoon and I was SO excited to see him. I really hated being away from him for so long. I think it is hard for him too!

Sunday May 22, 2005

Well, the verdict is out, Mom is definitely loosing her mind. She had on her calendar that she was supposed to go to Marie’s house today to look at her saint puppies. Well, turns out that it was yesterday! It worked out okay because we got to have one on one time with Marie and the pups and that was really fun. We got home late afternoon and got a few things done around the house to get ready for Dad to get home. I really miss him when he is gone!

Saturday May 21, 2005

Mom, Gramma and I went to Spokane to go shopping today. Mom and Gramma don’t know their way around the area very well, so we got lost a couple of times. We went to a bunch of different stores and somehow we always found our way to my section! Mom and Gramma both love shopping for me, and not so much for themselves! Mom was really excited because she found me some canvas shoes that have no rubber on them. Vicki had recommended getting them to help keep my socks on. Mom bought white shoes in 0-3 and denim for 3-6. I have a feeling she will be going back there, she found so much stuff at that store! We got home a bit late, which is always very stressful for Mom, she worries about the dogs all the time. They were fine and were very happy to see us. Mom got everyone fed and then it was already my bed time. It was a very full day!

Friday May 20, 2005

Gramma got here this morning around 10. I got to spend the entire afternoon playing with her. She needed to get some studying done, but I just wouldn’t let her! I have a way of doing that to people. Mom got KFC and movies after work for her and Gramma. They had a nice evening together and I was a very good girl. Paula’s dogs arrived this afternoon and proceeded to eat Mom’s dog door. Mom was not happy at all. She was really surprised that they chewed it up because her big dogs and all the puppies were down there a lot and never had any trouble. Oh well.

Thursday May 19, 2005

Mom and I spent our normal morning at home today. She was busy working and trying to get the house picked up for the weekend. She is going to have to take care of Paula’s dogs again and also Gramma is coming to spend the weekend. Dad is going to the cabin at Lake Cavanaugh to build a deck. It is going to be a busy weekend for everyone!

Wednesday May 18, 2005

I am doing great on the new formula. Vicki said I am happier during the day than I have been the whole time I have been going to spend my afternoon’s at her house. I have been a little bit congested lately. Dad has been calling my pug or piglet. Nice, huh?

Tuesday May 17, 2005

Today was Mom’s last night teaching dog classes for a few weeks. She really likes doing the classes, but also enjoys her breaks. I also like spending my evening with Dad as he spoils me rotten. He holds me all the time! All the time! I am gripping things more and more everyday. I am trying really hard to roll over, but with no luck yet. I will do it soon, though.

Monday May 16, 2005

Well it is back to the grind stone today. Mom was a little bit concerned about me have 5 full ounces of formula at Vicki’s this afternoon, but I managed to keep it all down. It really does appear that the other formula was just too rich for me. Mom is still keeping track of my weight gain, feeding, and pooping in a chart for the doctor. It is a little bit of a pain, but she doesn’t mind too much.

Sunday May 15, 2005

I seem to be doing much better on the new formula. I am eating a couple of ounces after I nurse. I really like it! I have not vomited, but mom is walking on pins and needles right now. She just wants to make sure I don’t have to go through all of that again! So far so good.

Saturday May 14, 2005

Today was a wild day. Dad went Turkey hunting this morning and after mom fed the dogs she nursed me and then gave me 2 ounces of formula. I spit up a bit when she was burping me. She changed my clothes and put me in my bounces and then I vomited up most of what I had eaten. Mom carried me and the whole chair into the bathroom, put me in the tub and got me cleaned up. Mom really could not believe how much came out of me. There was a puddle in the chair!!! After my bath, while I was wrapped up in the towel I began vomiting again. Mom got me cleaned up again and immediately took my temperature, called the hospital, and then the doctor’s office. They instructed mom to go back to nursing only until the doctor called back. Mom was so worried she rocked me all through my morning nap while she waited for Dad to call. He finally called and came home. Mom was so relieved. The doctor finally called and he decided that it would be best if I was put on a less rich formula, so mom started that tonight and I have been doing well so far. Phew!

I had gained 6 ounces, but after vomiting I lost 9. This was obviously a big concern for mom!

Friday May 13, 2005

Mom called the doctor today because she wasn’t able to pump enough milk for me, and her production just seems to continue to diminish. The doctor called Dad back and asked to see me. I went in and he was quite concerned because I had not gained ANY weight since my appointment 9 days ago. He decided to supplement me with a premature and low birth weight infant formula. Mom is going to feed me two ounces after nursing me and Vicki will feed me only formula when I am at her house. The doctor also wants mom to keep track of when I eat, how long, how much, and weigh me everday. I did well with my first meals of formula. The first time I only ate about a half an ounce and before bed I had two more. It is really nice to be full!

Thursday May 12, 2005

Mom can not believe how close I am to rolling over. When I am on my back I pivot around and around while trying to flip over. I get up on one side, but my silly arm keeps getting in the way! One of these days I am going to figure it out!

Mom and I got to meet Noah’s puppy today. Her name is Angela and she is very cute and very small. I have never seen such a small dog. I don’t know if Tater was even that small when she was born! Vicki’s was not sure what the difference is between raising a puppy and raising kids, mom said, “That is what I have been trying to tell people!”

Wednesday May 11, 2005

Mom has been giving Vicki advice on Dogs. Today is Vicki’s Son’s birthday and they got him a puppy! A little doxie. We will get to meet her tomorrow, so I am very excited! I had a really LONG nap at Vicki’s this afternoon. I haven’t been napping as well in the mornings, so it is good I am getting a good nap in during the afternoon.

Tuesday May 10, 2005

Today is my Daddy day. Dad picked me up and then we had to come home and do all of the chores without Mom. It is raining hard, so that makes it even worse. Dad manages!

Monday May 9, 2005

It is back to the normal routine today! Mom has begun to notice that I am gripping things more and attempting to put everything in my mouth. She has also learned that if she gives me a toy to hold I am less likely to pull out my pacifier. This is working well and helping me keep from waking myself up all the time. This helps for my naps and bed time. It rained really hard today and Dad went out into the kennel to hang sheet metal to protect the dogs from the rain. He is so thoughtful! He said he did it to make things easier for Mom, but I really think he worries about the dogs too!

Sunday May 8, 2005

Today is Mom’s first Mother’s Day! Mom didn’t have a great start to her day because she had to break up a fight between Spud and Diego over breakfast and got bit on her hand. It wasn’t bad, but was still scary for her. Dad made sure that the rest of the day was very special for her. He made her breakfast and gave her a wonderful gift. He arranged for a photographer to take pictures of me at 6, 9, 12, 18 and 24 months! Mom is really excited! For the afternoon we went to Stephen, Margie and Erin’s house to have a barbeque lunch. It was a great day for all of us, it is nice to be able to spend time together.

Saturday May 7, 2005

Mom, Dad, and I went to Ken Cyndy and Isaac’s house today. Mom works with Ken and they also want to have Dad do some work on their house. We had a very nice lunch with them. After lunch we went to Paul and Paula’s house to pick up the dogs. They are staying with us until Thursday. Mom is going to be very busy taking care of seven dogs, but she always manages!

Friday May 6, 2005

I had a really fun day at Vicki’s today. Vicki’s sons, A.J. and Noah, were home and helped keep me entertained. I really like playing with the other kids. Mom and Vicki have figured out that I do well when I can see people. Mom thinks it is because of all of the commotion at our house with the dogs. I am used to seeing them running around and playing all the time.

Thursday May 5, 2005

Today was a normal day. It was good to have a day to recover after my very busy day yesterday. I had a long nap this morning and a long nap at Vicki’s. I really like sleeping, which I think I got from my dad, though mom likes sleeping too!

Wednesday May 4, 2005

I had a doctor’s appointment today. It was awful! I had to get shots! I was actually there for quite a long time. At first they thought I was having trouble turning my head in both directions. I really resisted when the doctor tried to turn it for me. They kept trying all sorts of different things, shaking keys, etc. and I still resisted. Then, Dad dropped his keys and had to bend over to pick them up. While he was bent over, I could not longer see him in my peripheral vision so I quickly turned my head…problem solved! Then they noticed that I have not been gaining a lot of weight. Right now I am 10lbs 10oz, 25 ½ inches long and my head circumference is 15 ¾ inches. I am on the 90th percentile for length, 50th for head circumference and 5th for weight. They were concerned enough about my weight that they want me to come back in 4 weeks.

When they gave me my shots I really cried. I cried so hard that no sound came out. The nurse was really good and really fast so Mom picked me up and held me. It took me quite some time to calm down. We then had to go directly to Vicki’s and I was not happy when Mom tried to put me down so she could leave. Vicki held me and rocked me while Mom left. I napped most of the afternoon.

The doctors told Mom to start feeding me rice cereal. I did pretty well with my first time. Dad helped…actually Dad fed me while Mom took pictures. I am eating it 4 times a day.

I had a slight fever in the evening and struggled going to bed, but finally went to sleep and slept through the night as usual.

Phew, that was a busy day!

Tuesday May 3, 2005

I seem to be getting back to my old schedule! I took a shorter nap this morning and was alert and happy with Mom. I love to coo all the way to Vicki’s house in the afternoon. Mom is not sure if it is the car ride, mirror, or what, but I am happy!

I stayed home with Dad this afternoon and evening. Dad picked Grandpa John up at the airport, he is here to hunt for more turkeys. Paula came over to help dad with his business stuff and I was just content to hang out. I had a rough time trying to get to sleep, but Mom got home and got me settled in.

Monday May 2, 2005

I headed back to Vicki’s today and was not a happy camper. I took a long morning nap because I was SO tired from my busy weekend, and then was a fuss bucket at Vicki’s. Hopefully I will be back into my normal routine tomorrow. Dad picked me up today and we got to go home early and play together. Mom got home at her normal time and then I spent the evening with her in the guest room while she cleaned up so Paula can come over and help Dad on the computer tomorrow night. I have slept through the night the last two nights, which has been nice for Mom. Apparently I am sleeping sound enough to not realize I do not have my binki!

Sunday May 1, 2005

Grandma and Grandpa left this morning for home. Mom, Dad, and I went to the Renaissance fair in Moscow and then came home. Mom was SO tired because I now like to wake up in the night and get mad because I can not find my binki. Mom took a nap while I took a nap, which is a first for her! It was a long and fun weekend for all of us, it is a good thing we had Sunday to recover!
