Nothing too special happened today, just another day of mom working and me watching. Mom has been working hard to get milk stored for me to have at day care. She really appreciates the very nice pump that Gramma and Grandpa got for her, it makes all of this much easier. She ordered extra parts that allow her to use it in the car and also to heat milk in the car. The things they have these days, it is amazing! Mom also ordered me a baby gym, but it hasn’t arrived yet.
Wednesday March 30, 2005
Today was an uneventful day. I spent the day in my chair, swing, and having tummy time while mom worked. When she was finished with her work we did some things around the house. I was very happy to move from room to room while mom was working on things. Mom moved my big swing out to the front room and I love sitting in it. It is tall enough that it is right at eye level with the dogs. I love it when they come up to sniff me and occasionally give me a kiss or two!
Tuesday March 29, 2005
I went with Mom in to work today. I was a really good girl and let Mom get a lot done during her meeting with her boss. I just slept in my car seat. Mom and I ran some errands when she was done at work. She got a gift card in the mail so she bought some books for me so Dad could read to me before bed time. I was having a much better day, but then right before bed time Maizey stole a chicken carcass off the counter and ate it so Mom spent over an hour getting her to throw everything up. I fell asleep in my bouncer while she was doing that so when she got me up to change me and put me to bed I got really upset. I finally settled down and went to sleep.
Monday March 28, 2005
I had a tough day today, I think it was probably from recovering from the really busy weekend. I just would not tolerate being put down. I was tired and cranky all day. Mom couldn’t really blame me, she was tired and cranky too. It was nice to be back to my normal routine. I had a hard time going to sleep, but finally Dad got tired of rocking me and just laid me in my bassinet and I went right to sleep. I think I just was happy to be back in my own bed. I slept all the way until 5:30.
Sunday March 27, 2005
We headed back up to the dog show today and the weather was much better so it was a LOT less stressful for Mom. The dogs did great. Cosby never got cranky and he did really good at the show. Mom was really excited because Tater and her brother Brodie both won the points today. It was a very rewarding day for her as a breeder. I enjoyed spending time with Granny, Grandpa John, and Gramma at the show. We left right after Mom showed and headed home. It was a long drive and both Mom and Dad were really tired. We got home around 7 and the weather was horrible. Mom unloaded the van in the pouring rain and had to get the dogs cleaned off because their kennels were full of standing water. It was awful! We really need the rain, but it is still really icky outside!
Saturday March 26, 2005
We spent the morning at Mark and Lanelle’s recovering from the very busy day yesterday. We then met Uncle Steve, Auntie, Julia, Peyton, Ava, Granny and Grandpa John for lunch in Bremerton. It was a miserable raining day, which does not work well with dog shows. Mom got really stressed when we got to the show grounds and it was muddy everywhere! She was worried about many things, keeping the dogs clean, getting them dry, keeping Cosby from getting cranky, and keeping Tater from getting scared. With all of that going on, she then realized Cosby had eaten part of his blanket so she had that weighing on her mind. Dad took me to Chris and Ingrid’s motor home while Mom got all of the dogs ready and then we all went up to our ring.
It was SO crowded in the building and everyone was cranky because of the weather. Everything worked out okay and we were able to find all of our family and get the dogs settled in to show. My dog, Cosby, did really good. He won the points in the dogs and is much closer to finishing. Mom’s dog, Tater, showed very well, and she got 3rd in her class of three! After they finished showing I started to get cranky and so Gramma took me to the Van and fed me. Mom got pictures of Cosby and then she went back to the van to try and get him to throw up the blanket he ate. It took forever, and he never really reacted to the things mom gave him. Mom went back up to watch Newfies and tried to find the rest of the family, but in all the commotion, they ended up heading out. Needless to say we were all exhausted from the very EVENTFUL day. Cosby did finally throw up in the parking lot of Albertson’s. We went back to Mark and Lanelle’s and Mom took care of the dogs and then we went to Great Grandpa’s for pictures with my cousins. I was so tired when we got home, it was a very long day.
Friday March 25, 2005
My first REAL dog show. I had to get up REALLY early today to go to the Newfoundland Specialty in Bremerton. We had to be at the show grounds around 8 and the newfs started showing at 10. Gramma met us there and held me for most of the day while Mom worked at the show. It was amazing to see all of the Newfies and all of their hair! A lot of people were excited to see me. I got to meet a lot of people who are very important in Mom and Dad’s life! We were at the show for a really long time.
I think it was well after 4 when we headed back to Mark and Lanelle’s house. Lanelle rode with me and Mom. I did great until about 10 minutes before we got to Mark and Lanelle’s and then I decided I had enough! I cried for the last part of the trip. Mom felt bad for me and for Lanelle because she had a headache, but we all made it and Mom promptly fed me and got me settled.
Thursday March 24, 2005
Today was a very hard day for Mom. She was trying to balance work, getting packed, washing dogs, and dealing with the one year anniversary of Nexy’s death. Mom really misses Nexus and is very sad that I will never get to know her myself. She is excited to go to the Newfoundland specialty tomorrow so she can hug and kiss lots of Newfies. I am excited to see my first Newfie in person! Mom trimmed nails and washed both Tater and Cosby in her dog shower. I sat happily in my swing while she got all of that done.
I was very good for our drive over to Seattle. Mom was even able to provide milk for me in a bottle so they didn’t have to stop when I wanted to eat. They stopped only long enough to burp me, feed dogs, and get a drink! We also stopped to see Mommy and Daddy’s friends Brandon and Michelle. It was a brief visit, but long enough for Dad to get their son all wound up!
Wednesday March 23, 2005
Mom was busy today getting her work done and getting our clothes all washed and packed for our trip. She didn’t go to dog class tonight because she was just too busy getting everything ready to go. I think Tater and Cosby probably missed going to class, but I was happy to have Mom home in the evening.
Tuesday March 22, 2005
This is Mom’s last night teaching obedience for a few weeks. I miss mom while she is gone, but I know how much she loves teaching the classes and needs the income for the dogs. Our dogs are really expensive, way more expensive than I am! I took my first nap in my crib today. I liked it a lot and Mom is considering moving me in there at night very soon. I have started waking up two times a night lately, Mom misses the days of only getting up once a night.
Monday March 21, 2005
Granny and Grandpa left yesterday so it was back to work for Mom this morning. I miss having Granny here to play with me while Mom works, but I am glad it is only half of the day! Mom has to work extra hours this week because we are going to a dog show this weekend and she will not be working on Friday. It makes for longer days for me, but I am a good girl…most of the time!
Sunday March 20, 2005
I went to my first dog show today.
It was a fun match in Colfax. Mom, Dad, Gina, Granny, and Grandpa all went as well. Mom took Tater and Cosby and showed them at the Match. I had a fun time riding around in the snuglie and being held by everyone. We met up with Paula, Paul, and Shasta at the show. They brought Diego and Leggo. Spud had to stay home because he had a sore foot. I was really tired when we got home from the match. I had a very long day!
Saturday March 19, 2005
Granny, Auntie Gina, Mom, and I all went shopping today. Nothing too special, but they got some great deals at the Bon, or should I say, “Macy’s.” I picked out a few things for my cousin that is on the way. It is hard to find things because we do not know the gender…so we got lots of green and yellow! Of course Yellow is my favorite color so it wasn’t too hard!
Friday March 18, 2005
Mom had to go in to work again today so I spent a couple of hours at home with Granny. Dad and Grandpa continued to work diligently down in the basement. Dad really wants to get it done so he can finally relax! I think we will all be really happy when that weight is off of Dad’s shoulders. Mom wants to help, but there isn’t much she can do at this point. So she just keeps me happy, which truly is her primary responsibility!
Thursday March 17, 2005
This is my very first Saint Patrick’s day and also is my Granny’s half birthday. I am glad that I got to spend the day with her today. Granny loves to change my diaper, and Mom and Dad love having a break from changing diapers! It works out well for everyone! Mom and Granny gave me a bath today and I weigh 9lbs 13ounces. I have not grown much so mom was worried. Auntie says that it is okay!
We went out to dinner tonight, and we were at the restaurant for a very long time. They somehow lost our order so we had to wait and wait and wait. I was such a good girl, I got to eat my dinner while everyone waited and then I slept once their dinner arrived. I have been waking up twice a night lately which is a bit of a pain for mom.
Wednesday March 16 2005
Mom had to go in to work today so I got to spend some time with my Auntie Gina. Mom went in to work and Auntie Gina came out to the car and drove me to her house where we played for a couple of hours. I had a wonderful time with Aunt Gina today. We sang songs and smiled and then we did our favorite thing -- eat! Although I like it when she sings "You Are My Sunshine" and the theme from "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" I especially like the spur of the moment song that Aunt Gina sang just for me to the tune of the Oscar Mayer Bologna song.
My baby has a first name
It's M-E-G-A-N
My baby has a second name
It's P-O-L-E-R
I love to kiss (hug) her everyday
And if you ask me why, I'll say:
'Cause Megan Poler has a way
With cute and (being) cuddly all the day!
When Auntie Gina brought me back to Mom we all went out to lunch and then did a little bit of shopping. Then I was sad because Auntie Gina had to go back to work. I was happy, though, because when I got home I found out that my Granny and Grandpa were very close. They would have beat us home, but they got stuck in a dust storm and had to take a detour because the highway was closed.
They did finally make it and while Mom and Tater were in Moscow at class Dad and Grandpa put my new crib together! I am excited to sleep in it soon!
Tuesday March 15, 2005
After Mom was finished with her “work work” this morning, she worked hard cleaning the house for Granny and Grandpa’s visit beginning tomorrow. I don’t know why she always cleans before people come instead of after they leave, but she does! She will never learn!!! Mom had to teach obedience class again tonight and this time she took Tater with her so it was really quiet here at the house while she was gone.
Monday March 14, 2005
Mom was home with me most of the day today, and then had to go to a meeting tonight so I spent the evening with Dad. Mom told me that it is going to be a busy week for her so I get to spend a lot of time with Dad in the evenings, and I am really happy about that. I always have fun with Dad, he flies me around on my belly and makes me smile a lot!
Sunday March 13, 2005
Mom, Dad, and I went into town today to get some shopping done. We went to a store that was having a really big sale and got a few things which included a tube to tow behind Grandpa’s boat at the lake. It will be a while before I can ride in that, but I was still excited. Then we went to get a mattress for my crib! Granny and Grandpa are bringing my crib over on Wednesday. I am really excited!
I had another rough afternoon so Mom called the Hospital Nurse and asked about whether or not I am getting enough to eat. The Nurse made some good suggestions. They don’t think this is my problem because I do not act like a malnourished baby. I am having plenty of dirty diapers and I am not at all lethargic. The Nurse suggested that I am growing right now and Mom’s body has not caught up yet. Mom also asked the Nurse about my tummy time, because I hate it so much! The nurse said it is really important and that I am going to have to get through it. It is hard for Mom and Dad to watch me cry, but I will hopefully figure out that they will not rescue me every time!
Saturday March 12, 2005
Mom and I went out to breakfast with Auntie Gina today. Then we went shopping. We had a lot of fun looking at baby clothes. Mom bought a few things for me, including a pretty dress (I know, I could hardly believe it myself) to wear when I see my Great Grandpa for family pictures in two weeks. It even has pink on it, and we all know how Mom feels about pink. It does have daisies so I think that makes up for the pink!
I had another rough afternoon, refusing to be put down. Mom isn’t sure what is wrong. She is worried that I am not getting enough to eat. I was really good all morning in town, but once I got home I was really upset again. I am not worried, Mom will figure it out!
Friday March 11, 2005
I had a horrible day today. I was restless all day and just couldn’t stand being put down! Dad was down in Lewiston so Mom got nothing done all day. I was hungry all the time and just very upset. My Granny and Gramma both think it might have been the shots. Dad didn’t get home until really late, but Mom handed me off and I harassed him for a while. Mom was glad to get a break! I did sleep well, only waking up once, like normal Megan.
Thursday March 10, 2005
Today was another day of watching Mom work. I took a really long nap this afternoon and since my Dad was home, Mom went out and worked her horse and rode her around the pasture. She said she won’t go out with the horse when I am napping unless Dad is home. She is afraid that if she got kicked or hurt that I would be all alone. I am very jealous that she got to ride MY horse, and can’t wait until I can ride her someday!
We had another rough night last night, but not as bad as the night prior. This time Tater only got up every two hours. I also wanted to eat every two hours. Unfortunately for mom, our schedules were different so she was still up every hour!
Wednesday March 9, 2005
I had my two month doctor’s appointment today. It went pretty well considering I had to get three shots! I was very brave and only cried a little bit. Everyone said it would be harder on Mom and Dad than on me, but Mom still says watching Baker get his tail docked was much harder! All of my development is normal and I weight 9lbs 13.0oz. I am growing and growing. Mom finds it hard to believe that babies are born at the weight I am now. Ouch!
I slept a lot today after my appointment. I had a temperature of 101.0 during the evening; a common side affect of the shots. Mom gave me some grape flavored infant tyelonol and it got better. My legs are swollen where they gave me the shots, but the doctor said that it will be better by tomorrow.
I had my first bad night in a long time. It was probably a combination of the fever, sleeping all day, and hearing Tater get up every hour. Poor Mom hardly got any sleep. When I woke up at 3AM I decided I just didn’t want to go back to sleep at all. Dad got up with me and rocked me so Mom could get a little bit of sleep.
Tuesday March 8, 2005
I spent another morning watching Mom work. I find it pretty entertaining. I am drooling a lot these days, but probably not as much as the Bloodhounds. Well, maybe I am, but it is a different type of drool. Luckily neither type bothers my parents! I also love to put everything in my mouth—just like a bloodhound! Hmmm…maybe there is something to this?
Monday March 7, 2005
I am two months old today, can you believe it?! Mom and Dad just can’t believe it! Mom has been trying really hard to get better pictures of me smiling, but I get to focused on the camera and then I don’t smile. She and Dad are going to try tomorrow when I am “naked baby.” I love being “naked baby” and it doesn’t happen very often! Mom and Dad have also been trying really hard to have me spend more time on my tummy on the floor. I hate it, but they read that it is important for my development. After Mom cleaned yesterday I spent time in the kitchen on my quilt that Aunt Paulette made. Mom realized that this just won’t work when the dogs are inside so she set up my portable crib in the living room for me to play in. I still hate it! I love laying on my back, but the whole tummy thing just makes me mad!
Sunday March 6, 2005
Well it seems that Mom is coming down with a cold. She has been having a minor sore throat, but today she is congested. I hope I don’t catch it! She can’t take any cold medicine because I am nursing. She is tough, though! Mom worked hard cleaning the house today so that we could have Paul, Paula, and Shasta over for dinner, however they decided not to come when they found out Mom was sick. Dad worked hard downstairs today. He got the dog room all textured and primed. He is planning on painting the dog room and bathroom tomorrow! Mom is REALLY excited!
Saturday March 5, 2005
Today was a very fun day. Mom and Dad gave me a bath this morning in my little tub. I am getting so strong and it is so much easier for them to bathe me because I hold my head up for them.
After my bath, Mom, Dad, and I went down to Lewiston to see our family! My cousin Micah is home from Iraq, so our family arranged a get together so we could all visit with him.
I got to meet Uncle Paul, Aunt Lois, Uncle Rick, Aunt Linda, Sarah, Micah, Jacquelin, Andy, Dani and Stella! It was so wonderful to meet everyone. I really enjoyed meeting Stella. She was born exactly 2 weeks after me. I am so excited to grow up with her! Mom and Dani liked sharing stories with each other. We went down for most of the afternoon and dinner. I was really sad to leave, but I am very excited to see everyone again in May at our family reunion in Lewiston!!!
Friday March 4, 2005
It’s finally Friday! Actually everyday seems the same to me, but it is FRIDAY for mom which means I get all of her attention all day tomorrow and the next day instead of her doing work!
I am, kind of, an attention hog! Mom went into town this morning and got her hair cut off! She said I pull it too much so she had Katie cut it to just below her chin. After she was done with her hair cut, she came home, picked me up (Dad had to go in to work) and went to Paula’s so she could frost her hair. I slept the entire time in my car seat. Even though mom looks quite different, I still recognize her just fine.
Thursday March 3, 2005
Mom, Cosby, Maizey, Tater, Hoser, and I went to the vet today. Originally our appointment was at noon, but Nancy had a conflict so they rescheduled us for 3:00. This was not a problem except that dad had a golf game at 2:30, so Mom had to go alone. It actually worked out fine because Nancy was more than happy to watch me while Mom shuttled dogs in and out of the Van. Everyone got a clean bill of health and Mom had a great time visiting with Nancy. We were there for a long time!
Wednesday March 2, 2005
I got to spend the afternoon with Dad today because Mom had a dentist appointment. She really hates going to the dentist, but said that it wasn’t so bad afterall! She even made another appointment for 6 months, we will see if she actually goes! I am smiling more and more. Mom and Dad work really hard to get me to smile, and it actually is quite funny! We need to get video of that!
Tuesday March 1, 2005
I was a little bit fussy today which made it hard for mom to work. It basically took her 8 hours to get 4 hours worth of work done! I guess I will just have days like this. Dad got home early today which helped a lot. I spent the evening with Dad while Mom went in to town to teach obedience class. I really enjoy my evenings at home with Dad. I slept well since I was so fussy. I only got up once to eat and then slept in until 6. Mom was really happy about that!
